AdClub participates in several philanthropic events every year. AdClub raises funds and awareness for The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life and The Grady Advertising Education Fund through percentage nights at local restaurants, date auctions, merchandise sales, and benefit concerts. AdClub is a UGA Honor Roll Donor, raising thousands of dollars each year for the university and community. AdClub also hosts an annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Grady lawn for children of the Grady faculty with games, food, prizes, and, of course, the Easter Bunny himself.

Students
What is Shadow for A Day?
The UGA Advertising Club’s Shadow for a Day Program is an opportunity for students to spend one day observing and sometimes working with professionals, getting to know the advertising industry, and experiencing a typical day or more on the job. This experience is not for credit or pay but greatly benefits both interns and sponsors. It allows a student to clarify career goals, while allowing the sponsor (or prospective employer) to evaluate a student’s interests, skills and abilities.
When is Shadow for a Day Offered?
Shadow for a Day is flexible and should be scheduled by the student and host organization based on their availability. The spring program will be offered mid-March through May.
Why should I do Shadow for a Day?
Shadow for a Day is a great way to learn about the day-to-day work life of a professional in Advertising The Shadow for a Day program offers the chance to "test" what you want to work in. It can also help you get your foot in the door for a competitive internship program or job.
What activities are Interns involved in?
Many students shadow in one department for one day; others rotate through various departments to get a broad overview. You may take a tour; conduct informational interviews with people in various specializations and at different levels; review company literature; sit in on staff meetings; help with clerical tasks; ask questions about the field, the organization, necessary training and curriculum to follow to enter the field; and/or assist with actual office projects (research, report writing, etc.).
Application Process

Atlanta Agency Tour
Networking. Networking. Networking. This is the reason AdClub arranges and promotes Atlanta Agency Tours. Each Fall and Spring semester, our Club visits some of Atlanta’s biggest ad agencies, media groups, and portfolio schools in an attempt to introduce our members to the advertising world. And, given the growing landscape of advertising, the goal of the tour is to present the various job possibilities and avenues available to our members.
The professionals we visit are, at the least, blissful to have us visit their agency only to roam around curiously and eventually pick their brains for career advice. In accordance, many of our AdClub members have landed internships through these tours simply by showing their enthusiasm and desire to work in the industry (these professionals are typically excited about what they do and become increasingly keyed up when others show the same passion).
After the tour, our members are encouraged to attend an Alumni Mixer. Students will have drinks and dinner with Grady professionals that have successfully established themselves within the advertising world in order to NETWORK. Grady alum aremore than willingly to help a fellow graduate break into the seemingly arduous industry and give you a few pointers along the way.
Remember – NETWORKING, NETWORKING, NETWORKING.
Agency Tour Trips to Chicago and New York
Every year, AdClub members have the opportunity to go to either Chicago or New York to tour a variety of advertising agencies. If you’re even the least bit interested in having a career in the ad industry one day, one of these trips will definitely help you make up your mind! The agencies range from small and personal to large and corporate. They also present a variety of atmospheres ranging from laidback and casual to serious and professional. Along with getting a sneak peak into the Ad Industry, you have the opportunity to network with UGA Alumni currently working in the ad industry, as well as the opportunity to explore a new city and even make friends with other AdClub members as well as other students with a major in Advertising!
ADPR Connection, sponsored by UGA's PRSSA and AdClub, BBDO and Porter Novelli, took place Tuesday, November 8th. The event was a huge success with over 40 companies and hundreds of students in attendance.
Events included a Senior Luncheon, which gave soon-to-be-graduating seniors a chance to mingle and network with the professionals before the workshops began. The luncheon included Grady faculty speakers and a panel discussion from the corporate sponsors on the future of hte industry. Following the luncheon were workshops on topics such as the digital revolution, branding, crisis communication, media relations, the first six-months on the job, and much more. Finally, the event concluded with a career fair in Tate Grand Hall, where students and professionals had the opportunity to further network and learn more about each other. At the end of the day, students and professionals alike were invited to mingle at the downtown mixer, where further merriment commenced.
